| I feel bad for the Reds this season. They have the wrong man for the job in Dusty BAker, a notorious veterans guy. The Reds, if they can get some relief pitching, have a real opportunity for growth right now. I don't recall them EVER having a time when they had four kids with the talent and upside of Votto, Bailey, Cueto, and Bruce, no do I ever see it happening for them again. I think Dusty Baker is exactly the guy you DON'T want managing that team, because, as we both know, he'll do just the opposite of what he should. He'll start terrible journeyman veterans and aging utility guys who were never good enough in their younger days to be a full time starter rather than play the kids and give them a chance to grow. Despite the talent, the Reds are NOT a contender right now, so he doesn't even have an excuse. With the Cubs, at least he could argue that they were in the playoff hunt and the veterans gave him the best chance of winning. Same thing in San Francisco. Now he doesn't have an excuse. It'll be interesting to see how this goes. |
