So I've seen a few reports stating that the Rays will draft Tim Beckham with the first round pick in the draft. Doing so would send the message that the organization believes that he, and not Reid Brignac, is the future of the organization at short.
I realize Brignac has not been living up to expectations, but isn't it too early to give up on him, particularly when there are other needs that could be addressed? Brian Matusz would be a nice choice, and even if they feel the system is already loaded with pitching, which they are (I feel you can never have enough pitching though), why not take one of the catchers? Why not Buster Posey?
